Simple Cycles is Phil Taylor.

As someone that’s ridden a bicycle all my life as a means of fun, and transportation I love the freedom that the bicycle brings. It was while commuting by bike that the idea of building bicycles came about. I couldn’t quite find the bike that i wanted so decided to learn how to make them for myself.

Along the way I set up Bespoked Bristol - The UK Handmade Bicycle Show which has enabled me to spend time with some of the best framebuilders in the world. Please look here to see the films that i’ve made and the work that they do.

I make tig welded bicycles as it allows me to work with complete freedom to ensure that each joint fits the riders specification. Tig welding is also the most efficient method of joining tubes and adds virtually nothing in weight to to manufacture process.

Tubes are cut using bicycle specific cutters made by Andy Newlands (Strawberry Bicycles) in Portland, Oregon, Andy used to  in Slad in the 70’s.

I’m currently working on a number of commissions and will be taking public orders at Bespoked Bristol 2013.
